Wild Wild Weather

After the latest wind storm, would anyone agree that we’re seeing harsher storms on a more regular basis these days? And it still took a long time to restore power to homes. We need to look at how we respond to these occurrences because there’s going to be more of them.

Roaring meow

Tiger fans, let’s not get too carried away. Not a bad win against Carlton in Round 1, but the Blues were underdone and some players did not have a great pre-season. Richmond, on the other hand, had a full-strength team on the park and only got on top once Carlton ran out of puff. Another long year ahead Tigers.

Meeting the famous

Have you ever met anyone famous? Who were they and what were they like?

Who will win the AFL Premiership this year? Who will they play in the Grand Final? Who will win the wooden spoon? Who will win the Brownlow? Let’s come back in September and see who was on the money.

Answer this….

Why is it I can set the air conditioner at home to 21 degrees in summer and still feel hot, yet set it to the same temperature in winter and still feel cold? And does it really “condition'’ the air? Shouldn’t it be called an air cooler?

Why drive like an idiot?

Despite all the warnings about speeding on our roads, why do people still do it? Don’t they realise that their life or someone else’s can end in a split second? Anyone caught speeding more than 20km/h over the limit should be jailed for a year.

I noticed in my Leader paper this week they were asking people what was the best present they got for Christmas. I think it’s interesting to know what the worst present you’ve ever got would be. Mine would be a diary from an office Kris Kringle. It was basically his diary for the following year that he got through work.

Your thoughts on Beckham

Is David Beckham overrated? He’s got a great cross and free kick, but not much else in my opinion. Hasn’t won a World Cup either. So where does he fit among the greats? (Please, don’t turn this debate into soccer being boring because there’s no goals scored. It’s purely about Beckham).

Melbourne crowds boring

I remember going to watch live gigs years ago where quite often the crowd was louder than the band. But nowadays, Melburnians are more than happy just to tamely sit on their seats and give almost silent coos to their favourite acts.

My theory is that as time goes on, society is being over governed.

Drinking in public is banned in the city, the Mexican wave has been banned, taking photos in some public spaces is banned, the Ho Ho Ho is about to be taken out of Christmas and on and on it goes.

So what we have is a society that is subconciously too scared to do anything. You must think twice before doing anything at all because there’s probably a law against it.

People are worried at what others might think if they (shock horror) stand up at a concert and start dancing. It’s boringly pathetic.

Imagine what the band is thinking? They’ve come all this way after playing at overseas venues where the crowd goes bananas only to see a mass of silent punters sitting in their seats looking disinterested. They probably think we’re arrogant and stuck up.

It’s time the people regained their sense of fun and a bit more a care-free attitude.

We have allowed governments to turn us into ultra conservatives. We obey everything we’re told to do.

We are creating a society of followers. It’s extremely boring.

Anchovies

If you love anchovies on your pizza, ask the pizza shop to put them on after the pizza’s been cooked. They are less salty and juicier. Try this once and you’ll never go back. Might even work on people who hate them.
